Privacy policy

Plain English. The trust questions are at the top — the longer policy is below.

The short answers

  • We will never read mail you didn't forward to us. The only emails our analyzer ever sees are the ones you actively forward to your personal forwarding address.
  • We will never sell your email address or the contents of your mail. We don't have ad partners. We don't have data brokers. Our income comes from your subscription.
  • We will never ask for your password. Not over email, not over the phone, not on a website. No employee of tro-net will ever ask you for a password to your email account or any other account.
  • We only call you if you ask us to. We reply by email, in the same thread you forwarded. If you request a callback, we'll ring you back at the number you gave us — never otherwise.
  • You can delete your account. See your account settings for the request button, or write to help@tro-net.com.

What we keep

When you forward an email to your personal address, we store these things so we can reply and so the service works the next time you come back.

  • The email you forwarded. The subject, sender, body, and any headers your email program included when forwarding. We need this to analyze the message.
  • Our reply (the "verdict"). Whether we judged it safe, suspicious, or a likely scam, plus the reasons we listed in the reply.
  • Your account information. Your sign-in email address, your billing plan, and sign-in events. Payment cards are handled by our payment processor (Stripe) — we never see your card number.
  • Operational telemetry. Counters that say "this account checked N emails this month" so we can enforce plan limits, plus error logs so we can fix bugs. These don't include the contents of forwarded mail.

How long we keep it

We default to keeping things only as long as the service needs them.

  • Forwarded emails and verdicts: kept for as long as your account is active so you can see your history. When you close your account, they are deleted within 7 days of the deletion request.
  • Account and billing records: kept while your account is active and for a short period after closure as required by tax and accounting law (typically up to 7 years for invoices, depending on jurisdiction).
  • Error and security logs: kept for 90 days, then deleted automatically.

What we never share

  • The contents of any email you forward.
  • Your email address with anyone outside our service providers.
  • Verdicts that identify you specifically.

Companies that help us run the service

We use a small number of well-known service providers. They get only the data they need to do their job.

  • Our hosting and database provider (where forwarded emails and verdicts are stored).
  • Our email delivery provider (which receives mail at the forwarding address and sends our reply back to you).
  • Our payment processor (Stripe — handles card numbers so we don't have to).
  • Our sign-in provider (handles password storage and sign-in security).
  • Our analyzer provider (runs the check that tells us whether a forwarded email looks safe or suspicious — receives only the email content for the duration of the check, no account information).

Your rights

Wherever you live, you have these rights with us.

  • See what we have. Write to help@tro-net.com and we'll send you a copy of the data tied to your account.
  • Correct what's wrong. If something on your account is wrong, write to us and we'll fix it.
  • Delete your account. See your account settings or write to help@tro-net.com. We'll confirm by email and complete the deletion within 7 days.

A note on younger users

tro-net is built for adults. We don't market the service to children, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.

Changes to this page

If we change anything material here, we'll send a note to the email address on your account before the change takes effect. Small wording fixes don't count as material — we may correct typos or clarify a sentence without sending an email about it.
