Terms of service
These terms apply when you use the service. We've tried to keep the wording plain.
The short version
- Use the service for your own personal mail. Don't use it to attack other people, send spam, or break the law.
- Our reply is a heads-up, not professional advice. If a message looks like it might be a real bill, real medical thing, or real legal notice, talk to the actual organization (using the verified contact details we include) or a professional you trust.
- You can cancel any time. Your account stays active until the end of the billing period you've already paid for.
- We don't make promises that the service will be perfect or never miss anything. We try our best, but you're the one in charge of your account and your money.
Who this agreement is between
When you use tro-net, this is the agreement between you and us. "You" means the person whose email address is on the account. "We" / "us" means the tro-net team.
What the service does
You forward an email you're not sure about to your personal forwarding address. We read it, check it against patterns we've seen before, and reply with a verdict — safe, suspicious, or likely scam — and the reasons we made that call. If we think someone is impersonating a company we have on file, our reply includes the real contact details for that company so you can reach out directly.
Read How it works for the full step-by-step.
What our reply is — and isn't
Our reply may be wrong. We try to be careful, but no automatic check is perfect. The right way to use the reply is as a second opinion you can lean on — not as the final word.
Acceptable use
When you use the service, you agree to the following.
- Forward your own mail. Forward emails you received yourself (or that someone asked you to check on their behalf). Don't forward mail you weren't a recipient of.
- Don't try to break the service. No probing for vulnerabilities, no automated submission of high volumes of mail, no impersonating other users.
- Don't try to misuse our reply. Don't republish the verdicts in a way that suggests an organization is dangerous when our reply was about a single forwarded email.
- Keep your sign-in safe. Don't share your password. We will never ask you for it.
If we have reason to believe an account is being misused, we may pause it and write to the email on file.
Billing
- 14-day free trial on Personal and Household plans. We collect a payment method when you sign up, but we do not charge it until the 14-day trial ends. We email you a few days before the trial ends so the charge is not a surprise. If you cancel any time before then, you are not charged.
- Subscription plans renew automatically until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from your billing settings.
- Cancellation ends your renewal at the end of the period you've already paid for. The service stays active until then, so you can use it through the end of the period.
- 30-day money-back guarantee on yearly plans. If you signed up for a yearly plan and decide it isn't for you within 30 days of your first payment, write to help@tro-net.com and we will refund the charge in full and cancel the subscription. After 30 days the standard cancellation policy applies.
- Lifetime price-lock. Your renewal price will never be higher than the price you signed up at, for as long as your subscription stays continuously active. If you cancel and re- subscribe later, the then-current price applies.
- Refunds for accidental charges or first-time billing mistakes — write to help@tro-net.com and we'll work it out, even outside the 30-day window.
- Price changes apply only to new subscriptions and (subject to the price-lock above) to renewals after the change takes effect. We'll send a note to the email on your account before any price change that affects you.
Cancelling and closing your account
Cancel from your billing settings at any time. To delete your account entirely, see your account settings or write to help@tro-net.com. We'll confirm by email and finish the deletion within 7 days. See our privacy policy for what gets deleted and what we keep.
No warranties
We do our best to keep the service running and the analyzer accurate. We don't promise it will be perfect, uninterrupted, or right every time. The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind.
Limit of responsibility
The maximum amount we are responsible for, for any claim arising from your use of the service, is the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose. We aren't responsible for indirect or consequential losses.
This doesn't take away rights you may have under the law where you live that can't be waived by an agreement.
Changes to these terms
If we change these terms in a way that affects you, we'll send a note to the email on your account before the change takes effect. Continuing to use the service after a material change means you accept the updated terms.
